About
I am a German born interdisciplinary artist and craftswoman. I left my home country in 2007 for my Bachelor studies in Fine Art Photography at ArtEZ in Enschede, Netherlands. Since 2012 I am happily based in Brussels where I am continuing my artistic practice after finishing a Master of Visual Arts Photography at LUCA and a Post Master for Research in Art and Design at Sint Lukas Antwerp.

As an artist
Driven by a tactile nature of creation, I explore material, technic and image through direct interaction. My work reimagines landscapes and the sensory experiences they evoke, distorting them into new, often unrecognisable forms. Photography is my primary tool for reflection, frequently evolving into screen prints or collages. The analog photographs encapsulate the essence of tranquility across various cultures and landscapes, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the subtle beauty found in everyday scenes.
Working with screen print allows me to rework my photos. Free from frame and color everything can be reimagined and take a new shape and form. In my collage work I built new cities and picture my experience through reshaping my environment.
Recently, I’ve ventured into three-dimensional work, incorporating embroidery and textile work as part of an ongoing research. I am deeply interested in exploring and reinventing traditional crafts, using techniques like repair and embroidery to elevate not only garments and objects but also art pieces. These methods allow me to bridge the gap between function and art, imbuing each piece with a sense of history while pushing the boundaries of contemporary practice.
My pieces are tranquil , inviting viewers to reflect on the familiar and transform it into something beyond the ordinary.
As a craftswoman
Most of my work is driven by the wish to work with my hands. Lost in the process of making my body becomes a machine and I reach an almost meditative and intuitive flow.
I appreciate the nature of working with my hands. In a world where so much of what we do is virtual and intangible, being able to hold something I’ve created is a testament to my skill and effort. It’s a reminder that I have the ability to make something from nothing, and that is an amazing feeling.
